NRSG 790 - Methods for Research and Evidence-Based Practice
Module 14: Outcomes Management and Quality Improvement
Differentiating between Research and Quality Improvement
We’ve talked extensively about research and evidence based practice in previous modules this semester. At times there can be some confusion regarding whether certain projects or initiatives should be classified as research or quality improvement. The focus of research is to generate new knowledge or confirm what we think we know, but the focus of EBP is to translate the available evidence and to apply it in clinical or administrative practice or health policy.
- Compare and contrast research and quality improvement as discussed in this Power Point Presentation by Dr. Debra Bingham
