SWOT Analysis
WHAT IS A SWOT ANALYSIS?
S.W.O.T. is an acronym for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. A SWOT analysis is a simple methodology used to brainstorm ideas for change or strategic planning in business, healthcare or in your personal life. The process usually begins by identifying a focus area, creating a grid or matrix and listing out bulleted items under each category. The creation of a formal report may follow. A SWOT analysis is very useful when beginning an information systems or technology related project to get a big picture of positive and negative factors in an organization and generate ideas for improvement. SWOT analysis would fall under Stage 1 Assess of the ISLC. Figure 2 is an example of what a SWOT matrix would look like and things to think about related to an informatics/technology related project as you work on your assignment.
