Online Course
NURS 834 - Translating Evidence to Practice
Module 8: Understanding Variation and Identifying Quality Indicators
Overview
We are now in Section 5 of the course model-focusing on the monitoring and evaluating knowledge use in the action cycle of the Knowledge to Action Framework. Deming’s System of Profound Knowledge is introduced. Deming, a physicist, proposed that leaders must understand the system that they are trying to manage. He was one of the early pioneers of continuous quality improvement, The four components of his system are contained in the topic. One component understanding variation helps us consider what actions we can take or not take related to data.
Objectives
After this online class, the learner will be able to:
- Understand the interconnections among the four components of Deming’s Theory of Profound Knowledge
- Identify outputs for your EBI and add to the logic model.
- Select a process measure for the EBI implementation outcome and long-term clinical outcome to complete the logic model.
