Nurs 791 - Instructional Strategies and Assessment

Module 8: Assessing Learning

Conclusion

This module has allowed you to broadly consider several approaches to assessing learning that are important in considering the many options available to you as a teacher. Whether using a simple “pop quiz”, considering a portfolio, or employing competency assessment, you will want to develop a repertoire of knowledge and skills to do so appropriately. While the modules that follow will focus on the more traditional approaches in wide use today, particularly tests and competency assessment, you need to be aware of the broad array of possibilities as you assess learning for individual student progress, program evaluations, and most importantly, impact on the consumers and patients we serve in health professions.
