Screening and Health Promotion

Osteoporosis: major risk factors include advanced age, female, history of personal or first degree relative fractures, dementia, frailty, Caucasian/Asian race; tobacco, alcoholism, estrogen deficiency, little physical activity.

The US Preventive Services Task Force recommends screening for osteoporosis in women 65 years and older and in younger women whose fracture risk is equal to or greater than 65 year old white woman who has no additional risk factors.
